The reason why I work as a fitness trainer and not only as a physical therapist

My name is Ikuko Murata.


I’m working as a Physical Therapist and a fitness trainer.

This is a first report in this blog, so today I wrote the reason why I work as a fitness trainer and not only as a physical therapist, including the introduction for me.


There are three main reasons:

1. Prevention is important before the body becomes broken.

2. To prevent, you need to know about your body character, but most of the people don't know that.

3. The base of prevention is good posture. When you want to improve the posture, it better to follow the anatomy.




1. Prevention is important before the body becomes broken.


People come to the hospital after they feel pain, and I take care of the patient.

It means I'm waiting for the patient inside of the hospital.

Of course it's okay, if I can solve the problem in the hospital only.

But honestly it's impossible.

I cannot repair the patient's body construction which cannot be healed by themselves like a bone, soft bone, ligament so on.

Sometimes I feel "If I gave this advice 10 years ago, maybe this patient's troubles wouldn't have occurred?".

And I thought I should have a contact with the person who doesn't have pain yet and who should do a prevention.

This is the first reason why I am a trainer and not only a physical therapist.





2. To prevent, you need to know about your body character. but most of the people don't know it.


To prevent the body trouble in the future, you need to have a whole body check objectively, about the shape of your bone, about your habits in your life...and so on.

Without the checking, you can not know about your "risk".

Without knowing your "risk", you can't prevent anything.

Only when you know your risk, you can prevent it.

So it is important to "know" about your body.

To know your body character is the first step of the prevention.

But many people don't know this.

So I want to spread this awareness.

Because if this becomes major, we can rescue many people from their trouble.

This is the second reason why I work as a trainer.


3, The base of prevention is good posture. When you want to improve the postur


e, it better follow the anatomy.


Honestly, my posture is not good. I have a big complex about it.

But it's getting better now.

I learned that it is important to follow the knowledge of anatomy when we do training, by using my own body.

And I also learned that if we do training without following the anatomy, it makes our body-line worse.

That's why I want to share this experience and support the people who have the same complex as me.

This is the third reason why I work as a trainer.
